If you are running Digital Sending Software 3.4.5 or earlier, H
recommends upgrading to DSS 4.3. Secure Access or Communication
licenses will automatically be upgraded to the DSS 4 platform.

the HP LaserJet 9000mfp and HP LaserJet 9000L mfp.

DISK DRIVE COMPATIBILITY

In some cases, the firmware upgrade on the 9000mfp will fai
with a ten gigabyte drive and an early firmware version. Print
Configuration page and look under Firmware Datecode section for th
firmware version. Also look under the 'Installed Personalities an
Options' section. Within this section you will see an entry labele
'DISK Storage:'.

A 5 GB drive will be reported as approximately 4641 MB. A 10 G
drive will be reported as approximately 9500 MB. If the 9000mfp ha
version 3.202.0 or 3.220.0 AND a 10 GB hard drive, you will need t
call HP support at (208)323-2551 to obtain a DIMM upgrade. If yo
pull out the hard drive temporarily and have Firmware versio
3.202.1 OR if you have a 5 GB drive, you do not need the DIM
upgrade.

ATTENTION: Read the followin
information before upgrading.

There are operating system requirements for the printer'
firmware upgrade processes. Please use one of the methods describe

Upgrade?­

Similar to Hewlett Packard providing improved software for you
HP LaserJet 9000mfp, hp will be providing firmware upgrades fo
your printer throughout its lifecycle. A firmware upgrade may b
necessary if you determine you benefit from an improvement that i
documented in the 'ftp:/­/­ftp.hp.com/­pub/­printers/­software/­lj9000mfplbreadmefw.txt'>readmefw.txt file.

Determining the Current Level of Firmware

To determine the current level of firmware installed on th
printer:

1. Go to the printer control panel.
2. Press Menu.
3. Press Information.
4. Press Print Configuration.
5. Look in the Device Information section of the Configuratio
   Page to find the Firmware Datecode. The Firmware Datecode will loo
   something like this: 20020731 03.220.0

is required. After downloading the firmware file, click here i

• Download into a temporary directory of your choice.
• Run the file name to extract. Please note that this fil
  extracts into a directory. You will have the opportunity to chang
  the drive and directory.
• You are now ready to perform the upgrade process. For
  successful upgrade, these file(s) MUST be prepared per th
  'Upgrade' instructions in the 'ftp:/­/­ftp.hp.com/­pub/­printers/­software/­lj9000mfplbreadmefw.txt'>readmefw.txt file.
